Hellas Sat

Upon launch of the Hellas-Sat 2 satellite, ASTRA’s TechCom unit maintained full control of the satellite for 16 months from the ASTRA control centre in Betzdorf, Luxembourg, using the Thermopylae Earth Station in Greece. During this period, ASTRA was in charge of the continuous operation of the satellite on-station, including spacecraft bus, payload and orbital control management.

ASTRA then handed over the operation of the satellite to Hellas Sat’s control centre in Athens, Greece, where in a separate contract, ASTRA installed a turnkey system, which enabled Hellas Sat to assume control of the satellite.

As part of the agreement, ASTRA provided spacecraft operations training to Hellas Sat technical personnel in all areas of spacecraft operations and flight dynamics management.
